NBA playoffs - Game 3 - Hawks versus Celtics - April 26th

April 25th, 2008

Ok, I never really gave the Hawks a chance against the Celtics and I’m glad I didn’t because the Hawks have lost the first two games by a combined 42 points. Ouch. The third game (and probably final) will be at Philips Arena tomorrow at 8pm (ESPN). Now the odds against the Hawks winning the series are pretty substantial, but that doesn’t mean they don’t still have fans who think they can pull it out. Let me introduce you a few dedicated fans below as they attempted rally support for their fans by (kind of)rapping “Atlanta Hawks Get Fired Up.” God, I love YouTube.

April 25th, 2008

So, it was a beautiful week with not a cloud in the sky and then as the weekend comes they forecast thunderstorms to ruin the party. Hopefully the rain and the thunderstorms will stay away and we will have a nice warm weekend ahead of us.

Inmanpalooza - April 26th - 3pm - 9pm - Inman Park

April 22nd, 2008

After a jaunt around the Inman Park Festival, you probably will need a few beers to wash down all that savory family fun and we have just the place to do that, Inmanpalooza.  Inmanpalooza is basically a block party that has occured over the last five years on the same weekend as the Inman Park Festival.  The festival is rich with bands, Sweetwater beer and BBQ and in years past has been a raucous event.  I’m sure it will probably be bigger and just as fun as years past, so stop on by the event runs from 3pm to 9pm in Inman Park.

Inman Park Festival - April 26th-27th - Inman Park..obviously

April 22nd, 2008

One thing that I love about Atlanta during the springtime is the sheer amount of outdoor festivals that are planned for each weekend.  We’ve already had the Dogwood festival and noew this weekend in Inman Park, we have the Inman Park Festival.  The festival is more focused around familys then you getting drunk but they will have bands, a tour of homes, refreshments, an art festival, and more.   If it’s nice, expect a lot of people an absolutely no parking.

Here is the schedule of events that will be occuring all weekend.

Bruce Springsteen and the E street band - Philips Arena - April 25th

April 21st, 2008

The Boss is cruising back through Atlanta this week with the E street band for what is always guaranteed to be a quality show.  Unfortunately at this point, the good tickets will be gone but you can still grab some in the upper deck or scalp some because there are always scalpers with good tickets for a show of this size.  For those who do buy the upper deck tickets, you may have the opportunity to get to the front row if your willing to camp outside the show starting early the day of the show.  At past shows in Atlanta, fans who where waiting outside have been given wristbands to go to the front of the stage no matter what tickets they have bought.  I’m not sure if this is the same for Friday’s show, but give it a try if you are willing to do some squatting outside Philips Arena for a few hours.

The Art of Satire - Woodruff Art Center - Monday April 21st

April 21st, 2008

Tonight the international business/political weekly magazine, the Economist, is putting on a show celebrating the “Art of Satire” with the help of the talents of Chicago’s Second City Improv troupe and their own political cartoonist, Kal Kallaugher. The show will include political skits from Second City as well as a “how to” on political cartooning from Kal, which will include how to draw George W. Bush. This is definitely an interesting one night event and displays The Economist’s hope of becoming the hippest magazine that writes about such juicy subjects as the international impact of inflation of the Ghana Cedi.

AJC Atlanta International Auto Show - April 19-27th

April 17th, 2008

Whether you are in the market for a new Aston Martin or even Saturn, you will be able to find them all at the AJC Auto show. People who have gone in the past have never told me anything real special about Atlanta Auto Shows. Therefore, I feel safe to say that it’s probably similar to many other auto shows outside of New York, Detroit and LA, where you have lots of cars, some hot girls, a bag full of brochures and a bunch of dudes all staring at the dream cars they never could afford. If you are into all those things, this will be a good way to spend a few hours during the next week.
