Get your bathing suits and your sun tan lotion ready because this weekend is going to be a beautiful mess of sun and warmth. Free McDonalds Southern Style Chicken Biscuits (May 14th) and Chicken Sandwiches (May 15th)

May 13th, 2008

How excited were you when McDonalds knocked off Chick-Fil-A and created the Southern Style Chicken sandwich? Finally, you could eat a fast food chicken sandwich on a Sunday when you needed it most…hung over and lazy. McDonalds launches it’s clone nationally this week and in celebration, is giving it away free. On Wednesday, May 14, McDonalds will set up a 50 x 50 foot table (these are the perimeters of the “while supplies last” fine print) loaded with FREE Southern Style Chicken Biscuits at the Center For Puppetry Arts (1404 Spring Street at 18th Street in Midtown Atlanta) from 6-9am.  Then, on Thursday May 15th, you’ll be able to swing buy any McDonalds store for a free Southern Style Chicken Biscuit or Chicken Sandwich (depending on when you wake up) when you purchase a drink.

Dunwoody Beer Festival - aka the Parking Lot Beer Festival - 5/17

May 8th, 2008

The Dunwoody Beer Festival returns on Saturday, May 17th at Perimeter mall. This festival is no different from other beer festival in Atlanta, where you sit around with you friends and get drunk off a lot of beer served in small amounts while cover bands rock out mid 90’s hits. Now one thing does set the Dunwoody festival apart from the other festivals in Atlanta, it’s home is in a mall parking lot. Yes, that is right, there is nothing better than drinking your beer while searching for a nice piece of hot black concrete to find refuge. Now the festival is not all bad, it’s easy to take MARTA to if you feel like you are going to get drunk and if you underdress, well your only a few steps away from the mall where you can correct your error. I went last year and I had a good time but I just wish they would find a home that has some green grass.

Tickets - $30 in advance, $35 at the door

Dubbed as the “World’s Largest Adventure Series, City Chase tries to mimic the TV show, The Amazing Race, but without the foreign countries, cheesy storylines and Jerry Bruckheimer. Instead, City Chase allows local teams to compete against each other through a series of odd and end events around their town. This year the event takes place on May 17th and will have contestants chasing around clues in midtown, downtown and Buckhead. So if you ever dreamed on being on The Amazing Race, grab your twin or you ex that your not sure you like and form a team.
