There is one thing in Atlanta that might smell worse than your toliet…your water.

There were two articles over the last few days in the AJC reporting that some Atlantan’s are experiencing stinky water.  I have smelled mine and luckily, mine has the sweet smell of the Chattahoochee River.  But if for some reason your water smells like something that might come out of your toliet, well, you might want to read one of the articles below.

14th Street Bridge closes May 27th - Midtown Atlanta becomes a Parking lot

May 20th, 2008

On May 27th, the Georgia DOT will officially shut down the 14th street bridge for the next year and half to rebuild/repair/fix it. Luckily, the Georgia DOT has provided us with this excellent map with five different hues ranging from yellow to red that are made to reflect how fast, or how slow, we will be moving through Midtown after the closure. Judging by the amount of red on that map, we might want to consider doing it on a bike instead of a car the next time we decide to travel through Midtown after the 27th. Also, as a friendly reminder of our wonderful rail system here in Atlanta, the GDOT has placed a green line where MARTA resides. Obviously, the GDOT hasn’t rode MARTA in a while because if they did they would realize that MARTA only runs about 50% of the time and therefore should be orange.

Atlanta ranks as the city with the most obscene drivers - Fuck yeah!!!

May 15th, 2008

A national survey reported that 14% of all Atlanta drivers had made some obscene gesture toward another deserving or non-deserving driver in the last month. Those middle finger sticking, fuck filled tirade screaming drivers have put Atlanta at the top of the list of the most obscene drivers in America. I’m proud of you Atlanta because there is nothing more patriot then telling someone who cut you off to, “go blow themselves.” It’s called freedom of speech and that is what this country was founded on. Congrats.

State Senator Stoner stays no more “Krunk Kandy” for you…

May 9th, 2008

Going the way of candy cigarettes, “Kronic Kandy” and “Pot Suckers” are now banned in Georgia. It seems that Senator Stoner has gotten together with Senator Buzzkill and ended the party for the kids. The merchants who sell the candy, whose slogan is “every lick is like taking a hit,” are according to the law “promoting marijuana use and creating new customers for drug dealers in the State of Georgia,” and will subject to a misdemeanor if caught selling the product. Now I’m sure that banning will not stop 16 year olds from taking a toke, but I just feel glad that I grew up in a time where I could drink a near beer, while sucking on pot suckers and finishing that all off with a puff of sugar from my candy cigarette.

11 Alive Atlanta calls local mayor’s YouTube fame at 400 views…please

April 23rd, 2008

An article today on the 11 Alive website claims that Lithonia mayor, Joyce McKibben, is becoming a fast rising YouTube star with some videos that have resulted from her feud with the Lithonia City Council. The videos, including the one below of her trying to take a city computer out of the office and being stopped, have racked up a whopping 400 views when I checked it at 8am this morning. Now I don’t really know how many views it takes to place you into the category of YouTube’s viral sensations but I have a feeling it’s not 400 ( eg. see other video of a cat meowing that has achieved almost 2,000 views). So here’s to you 11 Alive and to your glorification of the news.

According the AJC and Peter Conlon of Live Nation, the Tabernacle will reopen in early May. It seems that most of the damage was not structural just superficial. That is good news.
