A Rocking Monday - Iron and Wine and Spoon this Monday*

April 14th, 2008

As you might have noticed, there is an asterisk(*) on the title of this post and that was intended for a very good reason. See in a second I’m going to start telling you how awesome these shows are going to be and how much you should see these shows and then after getting you all worked up, I’m going to tell you that they are both sold out. So the asterisk is there to prevent you from getting all excited and then ultimately letting you down like probably your girlfriends first sexual experience. So not to belabor the point so in short: both bands are awesome, both shows will be rad, I’m not going to both of them because I’m was premature (see again first sexual experience), and I will join you in the disappointment of missing both shows. For you reference, Spoon will be playing at Center Stage tonight and Iron and Wine will be at the Variety Playhouse.

Vampire Weekend tickets on sale - June 11th - Variety Playhouse

April 14th, 2008

It looks like the Vampire boys took a few business classes while at Columbia and understand how to cash in on their recent success. Not more than a month after they completed their show at the Earl in East Atlanta, Vampire Weekend has scheduled a show for the Variety Playhouse on June 11th. Their show at the Earl was pretty fantastic and there was plenty of adoring fans among the sold out crowd. Word has traveled fast on this band, so if you want to go this show then I recommend that you buy your tickets soon. I’ve already got mine. See you at the show.

Someone stole the Tech T…sort of

April 11th, 2008

Looks like someone has taken a break from their computer to have a little fun with a Georgia Tech sign. Now stealing this T is not nearly as impressive as if you could take the areal “Tech T” but I applaud whoever took it for the irony. Hope it looks good on your mantel.

Taco Mac Opening in Midtown

April 11th, 2008

Local sports bar favorite, Taco Mac, is opening a new Midtown location on April 16th. The new Taco Mac will be located where Stool Pigeons used to inhabit in the Metropolis building off Peachtree. Now I know what you are thinking, Stool Pigeons was a sports bar and it failed at that location, so why would Taco Mac be any better. Well, besides the cheap beer and great location that Stool Pigeons had, they were missing out on the fact that I don’t go to a bar to watch sports on a TV older than the ones my parents have. If there is one thing that I know about Taco Mac is that they have plenty of high-def televisions to enjoy.

April 10th, 2008

Remember this video of the local Atlanta news reporter who just ate shit while making wine up at Chateau Elan.

Well she made the top videos of Reporters getting owned on Break.com. She is toward the end but each one is worth watching.

Son Volt - Variety Playhouse - Friday

April 10th, 2008

(Courtesy of MySpace.com)

There was a band called Uncle Tupelo. They broke up in the early 90’s but before their demise they pretty much created the definition of what alt-country is and was. The members of Uncle Tupelo separated into two bands, Wilco and Son Volt. Wilco has gone onto gain wide spread notoriety and indie rock love, while Son Volt generated a hardcore set of die hard fans who love Son Volt’s unaltered Americana. Both bands are awesome but are very different and appeal to two different listeners. Either way, Son Volt is coming to town this Friday and are worth checking out because they are pretty awesome live. Check out their music below and go check them out if you dig.

Record Store Day - Criminal Records - 04/19

April 9th, 2008

With the constant onslaught from new competitors online, independent record stores have been unable to do anything o stop their perpetual demise. So in an effort to increase awareness of their struggles and importance in the community, independent record stores across the nation are banning together and dedicating a day to themselves and their survival. Criminal Records is throwing an event in support of the day which will include live music from Bobby & the Soft Spots, The Bridges, The Coathangers, Club Awesome, Dead Confederate, Hope For Agoldensummer, Judi Chicago, Anna Kramer & the Lost Cause, Manchester Orchestra, Janelle Monae, Noot d’ Noot, Ocha La Rocha, Suitcases, and Trances Arc. Sounds like a great event and I love to see record stores survive but I’m not sure how much they can do to fight the cheap and vast distribution of the online space. I wish them luck and go check out the bands and support Criminal Records.

Like to be Nude? Need a roommate? Look no further.

April 8th, 2008

Searching for an apartment is difficult for anyone, but for a nudist you would think it would be especially hard to find a shared apartment. But apparently thanks to Craigslist, it isn’t. Do a little search in their roommate section and you will find quite of few people who enjoy letting their roommates see them in all their glory. So for those of you who enjoy the clothing optional lifestyle here in Atlanta, here are a few current places to choose from:
