Old 97’s - Variety Playhouse - July 22nd

June 5th, 2008

Alt-country veteran’s, Old 97’s, have always been known for their live show.  Lead singer Rhett Miller dominates the stage like young, punked up Dwight Yoakam, while the rest of band provide the sizzle that really innovated early alt-country. Having just released their 8th album, the old 97’s have a slew of catchy singles in their back pocket to pull from that will almost guarantee that you will leave wanting just one more song.

Free Lunch and Beer from Stout Irish Pub - Buckhead

Race Jones

June 4th, 2008

If you are willing to give up your email address, you can get a free lunch and a free beer on Stout Irish Pub. Now, I don’t think I ever went to McDuff’s during the day, I’m pretty sure that was a good thing, so this will be a good opportunity to see what East Andrews did to the place in the light of day. Here’s the link to get the coupon.

Sighted: A man, a pig, j-walking in Midtown

June 4th, 2008

The man walking a pig in Atlanta is not that much of a shock to me. Atlanta is really only a few steps away from the country and just as in Crocadile Dundee II, so sometimes the country moves to the city. What really bothers me about this video is that the man is j-walking his pig. Pigs have short legs and are not very nimble, both of which do not suit well for sprinting away from speeding cars.  This is just dangerous, unless he was planning to make a nice sandwich.

Shout out to the person who wanted to know where they could be naked in Atlanta

June 3rd, 2008

Thanks to Google, we can see what keywords people who come to our site through search engines typed in. Most are pretty normal like “east atlanta beer festival,” “buddyfeed” or other keywords related to random events or posts that we cover.  But today, we got a person who came to the site through the keyword, “where can I get naked in Atlanta.”  Wow, that’s a first. I checked and I can’t find us on the first few pages of the search results, so this man or women must have really been looking for hottest spot to show off some of the naughty bits.  Here at buddyfeed, we want to help all people find what they are looking for in Atlanta, but unfortunately none of us are nudiests and don’t have any suggestions that would be accurate. So, while we can’t help you find a place to let your boys or girls free, we do want to welcome you to read buddyfeed naked anytime you want and with any amount of clothing that you want.  Thanks again for stopping by and we’ll see you soon (hopefully, not while we are both naked).

Here is the graph of how many people we get who type in “Where can I get naked in Atlanta.”

Unplugged in the Park is back - Park Tavern - Now through October

June 3rd, 2008

Unplugged in the Park

When: Sundays starting at 7pm

Where: Park Tavern

How much: Free

buddyfeed says: In years past, 99x’s Unplugged in the Park has been a place to see incredible bands play acoustic sets in an incredibly small venue. Shows such as Ben Kweller, Band of Horses, and Pete Yorn have made in past years this one best events of the summer.  At first glance at the list of bands is ok, but none of them have the mass appeal that some bands in the past did. But it’s early and there are still a lot of dates to fill, so maybe we will be pleasantly surprised. Even if the lineup remains unchanged, I still highly recommend the event because there are not many places where you can go in Atlanta and get a free show on a Sunday in a place with as nice of a view as Park Tavern. As a note, one thing has changed since last year’ Unplugged in the Park.  99x, the organizer and promoter of last years event, is no longer a terrestrial radio station, instead now broadcasting online only and have decided to team up with Rock 100.5 to co-promoted the event. Who knows if this will have any effect on the types of band but we will just have to wait and see.  Enjoy the shows.

Old School Atlanta Shows - Nirvana live at the Masquerade in Atlanta- 1990 - School

June 3rd, 2008

This is pre-Nevermind Nirvana rocking it out at the Masquerade here in Atlanta. In the video, they are playing “School” off their first album “Bleach.” It makes you think, how many people at that show ever thought that this band would become as big as they did. My guess is not many.

There is one thing in Atlanta that might smell worse than your toliet…your water.

June 3rd, 2008

There were two articles over the last few days in the AJC reporting that some Atlantan’s are experiencing stinky water.  I have smelled mine and luckily, mine has the sweet smell of the Chattahoochee River.  But if for some reason your water smells like something that might come out of your toliet, well, you might want to read one of the articles below.
